San Diego, CA
Transportation Infrastructure
Description
The Morena Segment of Light Rail Transit (LRT) 416.1 added over 3 miles of new main track through San Diego. This $62 million expansion included traction power lines, three LRT stations (including one elevated), multiple bridge structures, a bus transfer facility, and a park-and-ride lot. SB&O’s role encompassed boundary and topographic surveys, easement staking in environmentally sensitive areas, and construction staking for grading, track alignment, station platforms, retaining walls, bridges, and utility relocations. The firm also helped coordinate with local environmental permits and traffic control measures necessary for building the system through busy urban corridors and wetlands areas.
