Description

The Calpine/Otay Mesa Generating Plant is an ultra-clean, technologically advanced power generating facility. The plant has an electricity generating capacity of 510 megawatts, translating into enough energy for 500,000 households. The plant involves production of a 500- megawatt combined cycle power plant including off-site roadways, cross- country sewer trunk and off-site gas main.

Achievements
Location of the plant – remote area at the western base of the San Ysidro Mountains, close to the U.S. Mexico border.
Sewer and gas lines constrained by environmentally and culturally sensitive habitat.
Coordination with four separate design engineering firms and five general contractors.
As-built survey of all welded joints for 24” gas line, as-needed survey of conduit duct banks within plant site, horizontal and vertical control surveys, and as-needed as-built survey for foundation bolt certification.
