Sewer Infrastructure

Description

The Allred-Collins Business Park Sewer project focused on designing and constructing sewer infrastructure to serve a 90-acre industrial and business hub in Kearny Mesa, San Diego. This work entailed advanced feasibility studies, alignment selections, and cost projections. SB&O performed a thorough hydraulic assessment of existing and proposed sewer networks, including evaluating the potential for flows to be diverted from Tecolote Canyon. The design included 3.9 miles of gravity sewer mains, a 1.3 MGD pump station set 43 feet below finish grade, and dual force mains. This challenging effort required corrosion-resistant materials, odor control systems, and 6-hour emergency storage to meet municipal standards and future growth.

Achievements
Conducted capacity and feasibility analyses for trunk sewer
Designed pump station (1.3 MGD) and force main alignment
Prepared cost estimates and surge analyses
Coordinated with local agencies for design approvals
Provided boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys
